This is Steve's 1st GS - He took the 1st 6 pictures on April 16, 1966 just after winning the GMI (now Kettering University) car show in Flint, MI. (see the Story about it)

Here is the trophy and the hand lettered poster for the show.

This is the setup for the engine - 2 Carter AFB 4 bbls., cast aluminum rocker-arm covers and inside is a 1964 425 cam. Nice sound when you opened up those 2 - 4's. This setup was never available as an option for the Skylark GS. There may have been a dealer or two who installed them but it was from parts only and not a kit from Buick. By the way, great place for a fire-extinguisher. If this thing ever caught on fire, it would probably be the engine compartment and nobody would ever get to it! (actually, it was just laid in there for looks and the show)

He must have used a pretty small format el-cheapo camera not to get the whole car in. Steve's comment, "I think I was standing back as far as I could to take this."

For the show, white chalk was put on the raised tire information to highlight it. Was this the first raised white-lettered tire?

We're glad we have these pics to help in the correct restoration of the current car. Steve's comment, "If I recall correctly, I might have spray painted the hood insulation black for the car show, but I'm not 100% sure. It's also possible that it was already black and I just touched it up. I'll have to check on that."

Steve's comments, "I have no idea where the flask and shot cups on the tissue dispenser idea came from. I do know I was stopped by a Flint cop after this and he asked to see in the glove box. Yes, the flask was there (nothing in it) and I got a ticket for not coming to a complete stop on leaving a drive-in restaurant. He might even have confiscated the flask but I'm not sure about that." The switch just to the left of the tach was for a reverb unit that was in the trunk. It was supposed to make the AM radio sound like a stereo - not!
