Welcome to Steve and Jayna's '66 Skylark GS Page

This is a postcard of a GS identical to Steve's original and our current GS

We're in the process of restoring a 1966 Buick Skylark Gran Sport to showroom but drivable condition (if there is such a beast). We have owned 4 GS's in the last almost 43 years:
  1. The 1st was purchased in October of 1965 for $2,727. It was Steve's dad's 1st company car for the '66 model year and Steve was actually able to drive it in September of 1965 (Dad wasn't too keen on the 4-speed). Steve sold it in July, 1966 because he couldn't really afford it. It went to a dealer in Ohio and he never new what happened to it after that.

  2. The 2nd was purchased in 1968. This Jayna had until she sold it in 1974 or '75. It probably was junked shortly after sale because it was not in great condition.

  3. The 3rd was purchased in June of 1989 - it was a junker for parts although when we bought it sight unseen from a guy in Texas, we didn't know it was in such rough shape. It's still sitting out in the back 40 and we take parts off it from time to time. Local kids have taken their toll, as well. Sorry no pics of this, it would be too painful.

  4. The 4th was purchased in October of 1990 and is probably our last. It was out of Oregon and bought as a partially done frame-off for $6,500. Since then, it has been completely taken apart (except for the engine and transmission which were already rebuilt). Every part has been wire brushed, recoated or painted and recently we've started to put it back together. Steve says when he dies, stuff him, put bunny eyes in him and bury him sitting at the wheel with a big grin on his face (chances are real good Jayna won't do it).
